November 9, 2017 · Buying a house is a lot of work. You look, and look, and try not to reduce your list of "wants" for your new home. Well, I found the house, neighbourhood, and area of the city I wanted to live in. As I moved forward with the home inspection process, it was discovered that the (then mediocre) kitchen had no electricity, no water lines, no drains, and that the newish cabinets were not hung properly.
As luck would have it, my intrepid real estate agent put me in touch with Justin and Taura at Walker Carpentry. Initially, I met with Justin and Taura to get a quote on finishing the basement on a house I was considering placing an offer on. Fortunately, Justin was on hand during the home inspection and was able to tackle the kitchen project first. Knowing that I had Walker Carpentry working with me was the only reason I felt comfortable enough to buy the house.
Right from possession day, the work began. Justin and Taura absolutely SAVED me. I wouldn't have had an idea where to begin, but with Taura's super organizational skills, wit and charm, she was able to help define the concept I had a vague idea of in my head. Justin's ability to make design suggestions that are spot on made the planning process that much easier. Justin removed the old kitchen and started from scratch. His work is meticulous. Everything is perfectly aligned, well built, and the pride he takes in his work shows. New cupboards, quartz counter tops (amazing!), quiet close drawers and doors, suggestions on design and where to put a drawer or how to increase space, functionality, lighting, and his ability to envision the final project, made it all come together better than I ever imagined.
I now have an amazing kitchen with exceptional quality workmanship, completed in the time estimated, with incredibly fair prices by two people who are a pleasure to work with and made the overwhelming (to me) details a breeze. I know how fortunate I was to have them work in my home. If you're reading this and thinking, "Hmm, I wonder if I should get them to work on my project", stop reading and call them. You won't be disappointed in any way.
Walker Carpentry works with integrity, honesty, and quality. Justin's experience and skill combined with Taura's relentless search ability to find the right material at the best price, are a winning team. Book these guys for your next project. It's not often you can have work done in your home and have the unwavering certainty that the quality will endure.
